I remember being about 5 years old and finding a modern clipped Canadian quarter, it looked funny cause I never knew they were filled with some copper inside. I have never found a clipped planchet since then, but I would like to know how often they appear by the denomination ($0.05, $0.25, $1, $2) Thanks! Edited by mike9999999 11/09/2016 12:11 am

I have never found one in change after 40 years of looking. They are usually pulled out before or soon after circulating.
And yes, modern quarters do have a thin copper layer over the steel core and under the final nickel plating.

Small clips are always available especially in smaller denominations due simply to increased mintage, as noted by their relatively cheap pricing.

Through roll hunting the past 5 years, I have found about 50 clipped cents, 1 nickel, 2 quarters, and 2 dimes

In the past 2 years I've found 10 clipped cents including this one that I sold privately. http://goccf.com/t/190242. The others range from the 70's and 80's. They are still out there, now maybe since my daughter works at a credit union in a fairly large city my penny supplies are less searched.

It depends on the denomination... loon dollar clips seem to be the scarcest that I am aware of for general circulation coinage.

Wow Ace, I wish I had that kind of luck. In my 30 or so years of collecting I have found 1 clipped quarter and that was a couple weeks ago

to be honest the first one is a micro clip (rim clip) but it is on the 1973 Mountie, so its cool. I just got my second one full clip with Blakeley about 2 weeks ago

We see clipped Canadian coins fairly often down here in Illinois on the local bid board, but never a dollar coin that I can remember.
