Bob Campbell told me that when he asked the curator to see a 1964 D Peace dollar, her reply was "We don't officially have one of those."

You would think they would display this differently than with three metal "hooks" holding it.

This makes me wonder if they are displaying the actual coin or a "museum double".

Yeah but if all you want is the beautiful coin there are tens or hundreds of thousands more of them out there just a beautiful and a heck of a lot cheaper.
