Or it could have been the first bid he made in the last 90 days.
I hate bidders like 0***o who always bid up the item because they have to be on top.

Quote: Just noticed some bid fraud as this auction comes to a close. A new bidder upped the price from $3,300 to $3,975. The bid activity with the seller is 100%! Wow! I wasn't aware that if you wait 30 days between bids you're committing fraud. Can you explain that to me?

What I'm saying is the bidder who upped the bid from $3,300 to $3975 has 100% bid activity with this seller. Meaning that he only bids on this sellers coins(unusual). The account might actually be the seller, or a friend of the seller, that uses this ebay account to artificially inflate the prices at his auctions.

Quote: Meaning that he only bids on this sellers coins(unusual). Not unusual at all. It's only a 30 day window for bids and BINs outnumber auctions about 8 to 1 on ebay nowadays. So the guy could have purchased a BIN from 8 different sellers today and you call him a fraud for one bid. Terrible.

So you're saying that having a 100% bid activity with the same seller isn't unusual? I strongly disagree.

Not only is it not unusual, calling it fraud is ridiculous. You have NO idea. Do it to the wrong person and you'll be signing for your mail. I've seen it happen.
Just about every item I bid on the history will say I'm 100% from that seller. Because I rarely bid on auctions, 95% of the time there's 30 days between my bids and it will always say 100% from this seller. So I'm a fraud? If there's no BIN for what I want I look elsewhere before coming back to bid.

I'll redact that. I see what you're saying. It only shows his 30 day history.

Bobby is right regarding bidding. The point of this thread was if eye appeal affects the price of a coin. Sure it does. We don't all have the same taste in coins. The person who bought this coin didn't run the price up. The person found this coin appealing & bid what he/she had to bid to buy that coin. Of course I have some coins so ugly my dog wouldn't eat them if they were bones. But hey, I kinda like em.

Quote: Bobby is right regarding bidding. I agree. I thought I cleared this up with my last post. Once upon a time on ebay, when a buyer would come in with a substantially larger bid (percentagewise)in an auction and their history disclosed that 100% of their bids were with the same seller, it was considered to be a red flag. I understand now that times have apparently changed. Quote: The point of this thread was if eye appeal affects the price of a coin. I agree and it's a great informative thread. Even the bidding argument was informative for users. I'm sorry if I spoiled it for some.

I enjoy going back and reviewing my old posts on CCF. They confirm how much I've learned since joining this great community. That said, I was reviewing this old thread. With my new found knowledge, I would love to have this sld in my collection. I clicked on the seller's 'coins for sale' link and was shocked to discover that the same coin is still for sale. Now asking $5,000. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1850-Seated...AOSwcLxYK2y0What do you guys make of this?

Maybe he upped the price and put a Make an Offer in it rather than run another auction. I think it probably should sell close to 60 money which is $4,000, but it should have mint luster to be a 58 and I can't see it from the photos.
How did the auction end with a winner and now the same seller has the coin in a 2nd listing?

I think a natural build up of patina, or "crust" as some call it, can make a coin very attractive, such as the coins here. The Seated dollar in question, looks like it's been cleaned, and although it appears to retain some darker toning, the surfaces do not look natural. ET
