Looking through my Haxby, I see there are 6 different varieties of 2006 cents. The ones marked with red/blue pluses I have. The ones with just the red line I do not have. But can anyone tell me about 2006P Zinc that is underlined in red all the way across? Did it come from rolls or sets?

They are business strikes.
They were minted from copper plated zinc planchettes that accidentaly got put into the
hopper with the copper plated steel planchettes.
Not sure how many were struck.

I have both of those 2010 cents. I found it interesting that the Haxby doesn't list it!

Yep! That is one of those coins I will never be able to get.

I wonder how many of these are out in the wild? The alloy recovery program concerns me...

The 2006P zinc from what I have heard from a few is they were put out for circulation, sorry I have no link to confirm it tho. I've been fortunate enough to have found 2 in the past 2 years in the wild, one at about 40 and one 60+ for grade.

Last I heard there were about 123 of them known to exist.
These were found in the 2006P rolls in which 233000 were minted.

You have found 2 2006P Non mags in the wild? Or did you mean 2 2006 no P no Logo mag?

I am not sure anyone else has found 2006P non mags in the wild.

I used to have a 2006P non mag. Bought it privately when a group came out on ebay a few years back and sold it more recently. A profitable venture.

In my opinion, this coin has a supply that is tightly controlled by some hoarder out there. So the price has been high. But one day the supply will come out and the price will crash. Witness the 2005P non mag. It is probably a little less scarce and now sells for a few hundred. It hurts those who bought early. I bought early but at least I was not the TCNC buyer!

A 2006 MS65 of the scarce type just sold at Torex for I think $150. About half of the price a few years ago. And the Hamilton hoard I am sure still sits there unsold. They are going to $100 I think one of these days.

Sorry for my delay in reply Scg, I did check my 06 cents and yes the two are no logo, no mint mark, sorry for the error in my previous post.

In all the thousands and thousands of cents I checked through, I've never found an 06P non-mag. To many coin days and the brain needs a rest lol.

the regular 2006 zinc (no-logo/no-p) penny was by a large margin the most common;
If you're still needing one, I can mail you one - I just can't promise it being high grade.
I have a couple jars of pennies sorted by composition in groups of years - I have started rolling them and haven't decided if I will simply cash them in, or offer them to other collectors...

I don't hope to find a 2005p-zinc, or 2006p-zinc, but I had heard that a small amount of 2010-steel pennies were released for circulation, and was hoping to find one of those - along with a "regular" 2006p penny... Alas, I never found either :(

Looks like its from the same batch that was sold off several years ago. Nothing strange with the cert number.

Not many come up for sale.
Usually the same ones that sold in the past.
