Hello Morgan Experts,

I'm new to the Morgan game, and I'm hoping for some insight. I just bought this 1884-S, and I have a couple questions before sending it in with some of my large cents:

Does the scratch under the obverse chin constitute a "Detail-Scratched"?

Is it cleaned?

Any ideas on grade?

Thank you!

Appears to be EF-Details, most certainly cleaned.

As such it probably isn't worth sending to a TPG.

An EF-45 with no problems slabbed sells for close to $100, or less.

Agreed. A little less scrubbing and it may have been able to net grade it's way into a straight au50 slab but she's unfortunately been hit with a brillo pad

Definitely harshly cleaned. You may want to post some images of your Large Cents before sending them in. Most EAC guys don't care about what the TPG graders have to say anyways. They have their own grading standards.

Return it if possible. Harsh cleaning. Don't submit to a TPG company.

Cleaned and damaged - looks more like graffiti than a scratch.
