Hi all,

My wife recently inherited some coins that were collected by her father 40-50 years ago. We are looking for help identifying them and some guidance as to value. I will post them individually just to help me keep track of them. Here's the first one, which I think is Macedonian, with a bust of Artemis, from around 168 BC. Of course that is an uneducated surmise, based solely on a couple of images that I saw. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

CPrince

This is a tetradrachm from Macedonia struck during Roman rule, I is known as a First Meris. Your example has been altered on the obverse. The obverse bust should be raised on the shield, yours has been flattened and tooled or over struck.

Here is an image what one should look like.
