Recently while cashing I ran across a canadian coin 1932 with latin, do not know the translation-

GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND:IMP:

then it has a old man with mustache then on back it says canada one cent and two maple leaves. It's very clear and I thought it was a new coin. Translation will do if no one knows anything else about this coin.

Everyone keeps trying to buy it off of me, so any clue what to sell it for?

As to your penny, that style was struck from 1920-1936.
The inscription is Latin, loosely translated as "George V, King by God's grace (of Great Britain), and Emperor of India. Show us a photo, and somebody might suggest a grade and value.

1932 is the most common date for George VI cents. A typical circulated example catalogues for 50¢ to $1.

1952 George VI is even commoner; CV 20¢.

Nothing rare, but still an unusual find. Even in Canada you wouldn't come across these too often in change.

It's still cool to find a George V penny in change! And it only costs a cent to keep! I would keep any Canadian pennies from the 50s or earlier--some are valuable. You can check around on this forum to see the key dates and varieties. Have fun!

Collecting pennies is even more compelling these days, as the RCM is considering to stop producing pennies for circulation, and it looks like it is finally going to happen.

The 1927 is a nice coin--it's relatively scarce as far as pennies go. Only 3.5 million were minted in '27, versus 21 million for '32.
