Hi there, I am a new member, John.
I usually collect Australian decimal coins. Especially Centenary Of Federation coins!

I am hoping for some Participation in Posting your Total Count of 2001 Centenary Of Federation Coins.

This topic is 2016 new version!

My 2001 Federation in 20 Ct's,

VIC,= 31.
ACT,= 14. So scarce to me
NSW,= 37.
QLD,= 19.
NT,= 15. So scarce to me too
WA,= 24.
SA,= 24.
TAS,= 35.
N/FOLK,= 25.

2001 Federation in 50Ct's,

VIC,= 31.
ACT,= 17.
NSW,= 32.
QLD,= 25.
NT,= 30.
WA,= 26.
SA,= 21.
TAS,= 24.
N/FOLK,= 22.

PPS, In a $100 Armagard bag or rolls of 20's my usual strike rate is, 1 Coin.

And for a $200 Armagard bag or rolls of 50's, I would have to say 3 to 4 coin's most of the time, not as hard as the 20's to find.
But most of them are damaged/dinged/scratched...I put them back into circulation.

These are always fun to find in your change and I imagine that the new changeover coins will be treated the same way in years to come

I have still never seen one of the state 50 cent coins - Northern Territory, I think it was - actually in the wild. I had to buy mine from a coin dealer to complete the set.

And sorry, but I never keep more than one of any coin. So any duplicates I found were put back into the wild, without keeping any tallies. After seeing three or four of them, I stopped noticing.

Here is mine:
20c:
ACT: 5
NI: 5
NT: 6
NSW: 8
Qld: 1 (yes, I finally got one! Took 26,849 coins since I started counting my noodling!)
SA: 25
Tas: 5
Vic: 5
WA: 4
That's out of roughly 30,000 20c coins noodled

50c:
ACT: 6
NI: 2
NT: 4
NSW: 6
Qld: 1
SA: 15
Tas: 2
Vic: 4
WA: 2

Out of 3,426 noodled coins, plus I have a WA one from change
All of these have been noodled in the past year.

I don't know why but I usually keep any of the Federation coins that I get in my change, I probably have dozens of them scattered around the place.
With the exception of the Federation COA 50c coin which had a mintage of 40 Million+ they are all pretty much a low mintage coin.
The coins that I have in my collection are all Gem Uncirculated as these came from the various carded uncirculated sets and these oddly enough are still not that expensive and pretty much easily available if you want to go down the Uncirculated set road

The Proofs of these coins, Which are absolutely Stunning BTW can still be found on ebay and at various dealers in the individual State sets or in the Cased full set, this is where things start to get expensive.
To buy these in the individual sets would be more costly than getting the complete boxed set But you would end up with an extra 9 $1 coins

Especially, $1 and $2 coins.
I haven't seen them in circulation yet. They are so scarce! 5 cents and 10 cents are a little bit scarce either.

In Melbourne, NT 50 cents coin is little bit common.

NSW 50 cents are the most common among the federation 50C.
I think it has the biggest mintage.

VIC 50 cents coin is so common either.

ACT 50 cents coin is the most scarce among the federation 50C coins. SA 50 cents coin is so scarce either.

In 20 cents, ACT and NT are the most scarce.
I've got plenty of NSW and VIC 20 cents.

I guess the Centenary of Federation coins were released to the state they were made for.

I used to live in Sydney.
I've got plenty of NSW state coins.

I live in Melbourne at the moment,
I've got plenty of VIC state coins.

I think I should trade with someone who lives in ACT and NT in the future.
I need all ACT state coins and NT 20 cents.

Mint Set / I think you must be in SA.
You've got plenty of SA state coins.

You're so lucky!

UNC federation coins seem to be still pricy to me.
But I hope I want to have them too!

Hello WangWang

I envy you!
You still find them a lot in your daily change.

What suburb do you live in Melbourne?
I live in Eastern suburb.

They have almost become extinct in circulation!
Especially, in Melbourne CBD.

There might be plenty of noodling competitors in Melbourne CBD.

I don't have up to date counts but I generally find 2 to 3 20c pieces in $48 and 3 to 5 50c pieces in $120.
South Australia 50c is the rarest for me. How much have you gone through to find all those John?

Awesome Karloning! You've got 30 of each of federation 50C.

My first goal is colleting 20 each of federation 50C.
I am short of ACT and SA. And, I have plenty of NSW, NT, VIC and WA.

What a hot place for noodling, Mr T!

My average strike rate is 1 20C piece in $70 and 3 to 4 50C pieces in $200.
Your strike rate is probably more than twice as good as mine.

Where do you live Mr T?

Australian Capital Territory 50C is the rarest for me.

I've noodled coins over 2 years, Unfortunately I forgot the exact amount how much I've gone through coins till now,
Probably I've noodled 15K of each denominations.

Thank your giving me good information WangWang!

I should try to go through coins around Northern suburbs.
My average strike rate is one 20C piece in $70, sometimes it is one 20C piece in even over $100! No good rate.

Those in my lists were all found prior to 2011, as I haven't done any serious noodling since then.
