Hi All,

We had a thread that pertained to Encased Coins that were mistaken for Broadstruck errors. I thought That I would post a picture of 1944, Broadstruck cent for comparison.

I will also post a link back to the thread withe the coins that were removed from encasements.

On the 1944 cent shown here, you can see the slight distortion around the rim of the coin. You can also see how the lettering is complete but flows off the coin. It is not "cut" like it is on a damaged coin that was removed from some kind of encasement.

Below the pictures, you will find the link back to the other thread.

Here is a broadstrike from my collection for everyone to gawk at. I figured I might as well show a different denomination since Bill posted a sweet Wheatie It is a 1979 SBA that was pulled from a mint bag in the 80s.

biokemist,

Thats a great SBA! I always like the goof ups on bigger coins:-)

And Jim, I knew I had this cent around here someplace:-) I've been tearing the place apart trying to find it:-) I thought it would make a good coin for a comparison between the two.

Have Fun,
Bill
