And is this the silver version or nickel? There is a dull thud like the nickel dimes when dropped. The coin is NOT red like the photo depicts. I got this in the CoinStar rejects.

PUT a magnet against it. If magnetic, then nickel. If non mag, then silver

Thanks, I now know this isn't silver. But what about the variety with the reeds?

Looks like the US minted one.
Square bottom between the reeds.
The Canadian minted ones had a V groove between the reeds.
