Pulled from a dealer's cull bin today, from left to right, an 1883-S, an 1878, and an 1892-S. The 1883-S and especially the 1892-S get to be pricey items in better grades than this. The 1878 got my attention as possibly a (weak) 7/8 tailfeathers variety, albeit also probably with no real premium to be had down at this end of the condition range. Still, I was happy to find these amongst the ratty 1921's that constitute the normal fare at this price point.

Here's a closer look at the 1878 reverse -

Really very nice for grabs out of the cull bin. Your earned knowledge is being rewarded. Congratulations.

Please excuse my ignorance .. but don't all the 7/8's have a long nock and an extra talon on the branch? Or are some different?

Still learning how to figure these things out.

The '78 is a 7TF (short nock). Still, nice pick ups from a cull bin regardless.

I'm thinking the 83 might earn some lowball points in the F2 range.

I believe you guys are correct in your analysis, and I should've spotted that. It was just that mark between feathers #4 and #5 (from the left) that caught my eye.

The 1900-O I posted at this time over on the grading side of this forum came from the same bin, and I grabbed that one because I thought it had a real chance at P01.

In case anybody's wondering but is being too polite to ask, the quartet set me back $17 apiece....

They are heavily worn, but I would not consider them to be culls.
