Hello all, I got started collecting by my step-father in 1981 at 15 years old. Yes math still works, I'm 50 now and have been collecting for 35 years. I say that loosly because neither of us knew anything about coins at the time. I just started putting any old example of a specific year and mint mark in a book as many people start. It interested me greatly but we didn't know any other collectors to learn from. I joined the Navy out of High School and collecting was hit and miss for a long time, but never dead. I sold a lot of it due to issues as well. The past few years I have dove back in and with the resources of the Internet I have learned more in that short time than the first 30 years combined. I collect mostly US coins, I have a few foreign from my Father's stint in the Navy and also from my own.I do roll hunt some and "Count" the change from change jars for the local Humane Society, roll and deposit the money. I do replace silver at spot and round up for even deposits. That is the least I can do for such a rich supply of unsearched coins. I live in Alabama on I-65 where there is a lot of tourist travel through the town that stops for some of the local attractions. Anyway this is becoming a book, great to find this site. Actually Google found it with a recent search. It seems like a great resource where even after collecting for 35 years, I am still the new kid to many here. Thanks to all

@crazyglue....Clanton behind the Peach Water Tower. @Silver Searcher, you are welcome as all are. Although I joined for the education.
Also an informative message.... I am quite sarcastic, I will curb this some. I am also so OCD I call it CDO because it has to be in alphabetical order. So if I pay too much attention to details, take it with a grain of salt and call me on it. I will not be offended.
So far this site is excellent, I don't know how I missed it before.

Yes, I am familiar with Clanton. I used to live in Huntsville and I drive from Huntsville to Mobile and Mobile to Huntsville all the time. I stop in your neck of the woods on some of the trips!
