So it has been a couple of months since my last coin purchase, and I feel very depressed I have seen really great coins on the South Africa's version of bid or buy, like DCAM 69 dollars for about $10 but don't have the money to buy them and there is like 12 of them I don't know when I will be able to buy again but ya, I visit this forum numerous times a day don't comment just scroll through the topics. It's a hard thing to see the coins and not buy.

Quote: It's a hard thing to see the coins and not buy. Yes I agree! I wonder if perhaps there are coin roll hunting opportunities in South Africa. Obviously, you won't be picking up US coins in this way, but anything you find you get for face value.

This is always a great place to enjoy coins when you can't buy coins. I have a tough time finding coins I still need and love, so I understand how it is to go for long periods without a purchase.
Seems like you aren't accomplishing your coin goals, regardless of what else is happening in life.

Hang in there, things will pick up. I generally only have buying opportunities two or three times a year (although this year I have managed to have five), so CCF is here to fill the time in between.

Quote: It's a hard thing to see the coins and not buy. I've been in kind of the same boat lately. One of the dealers I frequented passed away (R.I.P. Jerry), and another just closed shop. So, since I only buy coins I can see in hand, the only option I have is to wait for a show to roll around. There is a show coming up this weekend, so I'll have a few months worth of saved coin $ to go nuts, then it's wait for the next one in April/May.

I keep a wish list and buy what I can afford. I can go a while between purchases, or not. You can always check the foreign coin bin at dealers for stray silver, coin roll hunt. Or sell something that doesn't fit in your collection to bank roll a purchase. I traded 10, one ounce rounds that I bought in the past but didn't really want for a nice coin that was on my list and really felt good about not having to pay cash. You gotta eat.

You could always just change your hobby. For example start collecting Ferrari autos. Or start a gun collection. Oddly enough a coin collection is possibly one of the easier and cheaper hobbies you could get into.

Just carl, well I have about 50 Ferrari's all the marvel figurines a extensive and VERY expensive wine collection, some of the best whisky in the world about 7 bottles, a collection of pocket knifes, damaskus and top grade steels like s30v and I make knifes as well. guns well that is almost illegal here in South Africa sooo much red tape lol. but nothing brings satisfaction like that miss Morgan. The anticipation of waiting for that coin purchase to be delivered!
