Hi,

In order to be able to help, we could do better if we could see pictures. I used to do a lot of cool things with a scanner before I got a digital camera.

If you can set up the scanner to scan at a huge dpi setting, like 2400 or above, The picture will come out huge on your screen, you can then resize the picture downward after you save it once. You then save it again resized. You can probably show what you are trying to show that way. This works better if you have the ability to crop out what you don't want before you scan.

It can take a long time to get a scan like this depending upon how much you can crop before the scan is done but it will work.

For errors and varieties, pictures are pretty helpful.

Thanks,
Bill

maybe you can try it at 1200 dpi....and see what happens. The picture should still be big enough to work with.

I see what you're seeing, but I am inclined to say that it is nothing more than a ghost.

Check out https://www.coppercoins.com for a list of all the known RPM varieties.

I wouldn't give up on it so fast. It may be a die gouge, but it could also be a misplaced D. That one needs a close up look to be sure. It's possible.

Thanks,
Bill

I'm thinking die chip, it looks too small to be a "D" to me.

I'm guessing that it is a die break. There are several others on the date. also I agree that the size is way too small to be a misplaced mint mark.
