Hi Everyone!

I've recently come across this coin on a recent auction list that states it was minted in Phoenicia, Tyre... I don't believe I've come across such a coin from Tyre but I can't find much information on it.. any clarification would be great!

Maybe Samaria. Perhaps similar to:

The similar looking Lycia issues seem to have the lion's head is within an incuse square, at least in these examples:

Nice work Bob. I used "leopard" and "conch" as key words in my searching (and got nowhere), but if only I had used "lion" and "murex", I woulda found it immediately.

I did also spot this one, which kinda confuses the matter for me. It's a Lycia issue - at least according to the given attribution - but without a clear incuse square for the lion. The shell is rendered a bit differently than in the OP coin, though.

Thanks for the help, Bob ! I'm guessing it is a "Dynasts of Lycia" mint! I thought the murex shell would be a dead give away since it's a symbol often associated with Tyre
