I live right outside of San Antonio TX. I have several wheat pennies with years ranging from 1910-1958. I know that they are worth 5 cents per penny at a minimum but everything I can find tells me my 1944 pennies are worth much more than that. How do I get an accurate offer and sell them without using ebay or similar sites. Best offer I have so far is 3 cents per penny.

to CCF. If you are talking about average circulated condition then they are worth at best five cents each. Why are 1944 worth more? What condition are your coins in? Pics?

I'm not sure why 1944 is worth more. The only reason I can think of is that they are either found less frequently or more sought after. Most of mine are in average circulated condition. I'll post a pic of the best and worst of my 1944 pennies.

Those are both cull coins. Not sure why someone would tell you they were worth more...

I'm new to the Coin World. What exactly does the term cull coin mean?

Simply put a Cull coin is a problem coin resulting from anything from cleaning to edge knocks which are both quite apparent on your coin. The term is used in other ways as well.
The term is commonly found in describing Silver Dollars for sale by dealers.

Thank you for posting the pics. If all of those wheats are similar in condition to the ones you posted then two to Three Cents each is about right.

, To CCF , 1944-P Lincolns are very common because of the amount minted . your 44's are harshly cleaned and beat to within an inch of it's life . As said above if your other Lincolns are like these they'll be worth maybe 2 cents a piece .
Stick with us and learn the hobby .

Thanks for the input. The hunting has been fun so far. I'll probably have many more questions in the near future.

They are worth 2¢ each mostly due to the value of the copper in them. Only a beginner collector would want them for their collection due to the poor condition. It does not make economic sense to sell a coin through the mail for 2¢ (or even 5¢). Heck, it does not even make economic sense to drive somewhere to sell a coin for 2¢ or even 5¢) due to the cost of gasoline and your time. Personally, I'd spend them both.

and yes these two would at best be worth 2 cents each.

On the left side of the page check out the "US Coin Facts" under the US Coin and Currency Heading.
And visit the section on 1909 - 1958 Lincoln wheat cents. It will list the cents by year and mint to give you an idea of the lower mintage years / mints. It's a great reference.
