Hello All,

Thought this could be fun and a way to keep us updated on the dates and varieties that still can be found out there in your pocket change (not from coin hunting or buying online).

During lunch I stopped by my local Sonoco gas station in NJ and the lady gave me this Kennedy half dollar as part of the change. She had it sitting on top of the cashier and asked if I wanted since she apparently didn't bring any quarter rolls from the back room, and the line behind me was unusually long.

I don't have many Half Dollars, but this one just became the best looking Bicentennial Half Dollar in my collection.

Any thoughts what this would be in terms of grading?

Good call jbuck ... then we revert to the ongoing threads.

Your Bicentennial half is average circulated as expected after these years ... XF/AU. There is no numismatic premium associated with it ... collector value is $0.50

You found a coin you like and it only cost you 50¢.

Can't beat that.

Can't really tell the grade based on the scan. Do you have any angled photos which show the reflective pattern of the luster? Not that it really matters as they are the most common date for non-silver coins minted out of Philadelphia. BU Kennedy halves from the 1970s are still very commonplace circulation finds, and even moreso if you hunt rolls like many of us.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Thanks for the replies guys. I will post on best daily findings, assuming I find any coin worth mentioning, on the thread that jbuck listed above.
