I have a 2002 dime that has what looks like zinc rot,But knowing they don't contain zinc I'm a bit puzzled. I also have a quarter with the same type of damage.I appreciate the help!

Only the Lincoln cents are made of copper plated zinc that rots. I guess it could be a dime struck on a cent planchet, but that's a very rare error. More likely other damage, but we'll need the photos to tell more.

After taking the pictures,I believe it's dryer damage. I think I read somewhere that a dryer can do this.But here's the pictures anyway. I also misplaced my quarter.

Looks like it spent some time in a parking lot. It may have been out there in the elements for some time discoloring the coin. Very spendable.

I was looking through some coins the other night, trying to find a nice one. I looked up and saw my wife was reading it. I knew then I needed to change my plans for the evening. lol
