We have 6-10" of snow forecast here in SE Wisconsin tonight, so I have accepted reality and will take my ACE-250 out of the car trunk, remove the batteries and hang it up for the year.

I was able to hunt until late November and ended up with my best detecting season so far.

I found twelve silver coins, including two Liberty Seated half dimes, a nice Buffalo nickel, four Indian Head cents, about 40 Wheaties and four silver rings. I know it's not much compared to those YouTube video finds, but I'm happy.

Now to wait until late March to start all over again.

I'm in the path of the same storm. Let's hope it's not too bad. But the ground is just about frozen here in Northern Illinois and it surely will be by tomorrow morning.

You never know what you'll find shoveling snow. I have found change -- all of it was crummy -- and once a cell phone. Go figure.

I'm in Minnesota, so I really don't want to hear anyone complain about winter weather, ever.

Hung up my detector about the middle of November since we didn't have much of anything for snow. It does get tough digging in frozen ground, even if it's only an inch of ice.

The last time I was out I dug my fourth Memorial cent, each time requiring a good deal of digging, and gave up.

I am also finished and more snow coming. I don't believe the ground is completely frozen, but it's been into the low 20's for the last few nights.

Last year I was out detecting on the lakefront park, Christmas Eve and a few brave jet-skiers were on the lake!
