had this quarter for years in an old box and just came across it again. I kept it because it doesn't look like a person could make this happen in my untrained eye. is this an error coin worth millions or is it worth a quarter. :)
Thanks for any help.

It is a quarter worth what it says on the back. The coin was dipped into acid and the copper was leached off the edge of the coin. But the coin looks very old. (which it is not) Reminds me of the classic coins yeaster year.

Search here for acid, acid coin, or acid dip and find more examples to compare to.

The solution used was eating away the copper core faster than the surrounding cupra nickel. Thanks, Doug.
Rest in Peace

Although this might not be anything special, keep searching. We have people report great finds every day.
