No way. That is an awesome find. I guess vending machines were not around in the 1800's...

Lol.... I sure wasn't around in the 1800's!! It must have came from the bank straight to the machine for change and got mixed up all for me to find.

From the bank? Seriously? Somebody must have thought it was a foreign coin or a dime or something.

I wonder what the grading would be in this beauty?

Thanks... not sure of the grade, I normally find them and protect them from further damage then put them away until later. I stopped talking to dealers when one offered me $20 for all of this and said its all junk, including my 3CN. smh So I just collect for the love of it and the history.

$20 bucks, huh? What a lowball offer... I'll give you $30 right now AND pay for the shipping Don't know what that dealer was thinking . Looks to be at least $80 face value in that tray...

Dealers are unscrupulous... Ive seen so many people bring in huge collections and only get offered silver value, the coins werent looked through for type, grade, or date... Smh

Dealers don't want to be bothered w/ taking the time to sort through modern coinage as there's not much profit to be had... On one hand, I understand, but an offer of only $20 for the whole tray is ridiculous

Great story and super find. My closest to this was about 10 years ago, while checking out at the convenience store, I looked into the till tray for some reason & saw a V nickel. I asked the cashier, who was of middle eastern decent, if I could have it? He picked it up, and said he'd been "chingalayed". I said no you haven't I'll take it off your hands, here's a nickel. It was just a common V nickel, but the one and only I've ever found in circulation.

I almost dropped my coffee on the floor. $20? Get the beeeep out of here. Btw, I can't help it, but I am curious about which half dollars are inside the plastic coin holders in the tray...
