I might not be phrasing this correctly, but the die was obviously rotated when this coin was struck.
How common was this error with Capped Bust Dimes? Is it more valuable as a result? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Fairly common in older coins.
Yours looks like -- what -- 30°?
Since die rotations were relatively common at that time you need something on the order of 90° or more to merit a bonus.

They are not as common as correctly aligned dies, but in most cases they don't add much, if anything to the value.

I'm sure there is someone out in the world trying to put a type set of rotated dies together. But probably not too many folks.

What's really embarrassing is that I've looked at this coin dozens of times and it only just occurred to me that the alignment was off

When you flip the coin for imaging, then this sort of thing jumps out at you.

It should have jumped out at me, that's for sure! I did notice that the coin was a little crooked in its holder, but the nickel didn't drop.

Seeing this coin reminds me of the classic coins that was used back when. Then I remembered, they have some classic stamps you can use as postage. So I ordered a few of them. They look like this:

They are on the USPO site now. I order 10 pages of these.

Cool! I had no idea the USPS was issuing new stamps that looked like "oldies".

As a stamp collector as a kid, there are some of these I always wanted, but could never afford. Although they are not those stamps, they are something I always wanted and soon I will have some.

I've been at the PO lately and suddenly became more interested in the "Inverted Jenny" reissue. I think I like yours better, coop

I'm not a stamp collector, but I have been learning about early U.S. and foreign stamps because there are thousands of old, loose stamps in an estate collection I've been going through. I had to put them on hold because it was just too overwhelming, but now that I'm pretty much done with the coins, I'm about ready to get back to sorting stamps!
