When you look at the date on your coin, it is showing Die Deterioration on the east sides of the devices. (see the edge of the '8 & 7') On the mint mark on the SE side, that area has a split plating issue. (this happens a lot on the 80's Zincolns) When the plating is split, the zinc is exposed and starts to break down. This leaves a void under that area. if gets worse with time. They are not collectable. I spend them as soon as possible. If you are buying a coin that has a split plating issue, then it will continue to get worse. So best to make sure the one you buy, does not has this. It will lower the value in time and what you hope to gain will actually be a loss for you as it will be harder to sell.
