I thought this quarter was pretty cool. Thought I needed to share with the community. You can see the line running down the back of the hair into the ribbon. But is this a die chip, die crack, worn die, or something else? Thanks for looking!

When you look at it, you can see the striations on that area where the metal was moved.

This should not affect the coin if you had it graded. (but it wouldn't be worth that though) But it is a nice coin.

It varies a lot. You will need to look that up on the PCGS site or ANACS site. It depends upon how many you submit, if there is an error or some other attribution you want verified, and I think, even the value of the coin. There are discounts for members of those organizations.

It isn't cheap and I've only done it to keep a couple of coins (that have sentimental value to me) separate from the rest of the coins. Most collectors look at getting it done for coins that have a certain value -- say over $250 -- or because they want the coin authenticated.

I've looked into grading and I don't think it would be worth it for this coin.

From what I understand, you have to be a member of PCGS to submit. Certain levels of membership include grading vouchers that would cover your coin value-wise.

ANACS does not require membership but the grading and shipping and any extra attribution fees would definitely not be worth it IMHO.
