I was looking at the Guardhouse Coin Capsule Storage Boxes. I have a few US modern commemorative gold coins (21.6 mm). Does anyone know if the standard US Mint coin capsules even fit in these boxes? Other storage options for these if I want to keep in the mint issued coin capsules.

Air-Tites says, "They might but I honestly can't say. The mints use their own capsules that do not match up with some of the popular brands such as Air-Tites."

The page you linked to includes the following disclaimer:

*Coins encased in capsules from the US mint do not fit in any of the above boxes due to the diameter or thickness of the capsules, as the mint has their capsules produced to different specifications.*

Are you thinking this statement is inaccurate?

I have several of the Guardhouse boxes and use them to store US Mint medals that are in Air-Tite 38mm Direct-Fit capsules -- the boxes work great.

I just tested a box with a couple of US commemorative silver dollars that I had handy and can confirm that they do not fit well in the boxes. I can slide a dollar in its USM capsule into a slot, but it is wider than the Air-Tite holder and stretches the box out; two dollars placed side-by-side in the two rows of the box would push the sides of the box out to the point that it would prevent the lid from fitting properly.

You could try the following (it's what I use): Lighthouse Coin Boxes

Thanks Commems, I think this answers it then. If you can slide the US Mint capsule into the slot, then I just need to order the right size box and should be good to go. My concern was more about the capsule thickness than the width, since the widths are specified on the website, and different boxes can be purchased to fit different widths.
