Dealer is Asking $5800 USD for this ICCS PL65 1965 $1 and if you ask me, it's been artificially toned. There's a 'make an offer' option and I was not only going to bid $30.00 for it but also, I was going to ask him at what temperature did he set the oven since I would love to have the recipe, but since it's Christmas, I thought it wasn't the nicest gesture on my part, so I didn't. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ICCS-CANADA-...AOSwcUBYMUDs Edited by doubleeagle59 12/20/2016 12:17 pm

LOL! Yeah, ICCS doesn't take in AT from what I know. I'm not too familiar with AT but I've seen some toning like this. Doesn't make much of a premium IMO, especially a PL.

Sharper pictures would probably help here . The guy is out to lunch for sure on the price. That said there have been some unbelievable toned MS business strikes found in the Royal Trust and other financial institutions that gave them away in the 1965 to 1967 era. Wonder if this PL coin was cut out of a RCM PL Set then housed in one of those type containers? @ DE ....... Merry Christmas!

The colour transition without 'pull-away' toning is a dead giveaway for artificial toning...
It is beautiful, but not CAN$7750 beautiful... for that kind of money, you could have a nice 1966 small beads dollar and a really nice 1948 dollar...

Why didn't ICCS give this a "Details" grade or better still a NO grade and boddybag it It looks like ICCS have some strange grading standards .

@trout I couldn't agree more! they seem not to care if a coin is AT..i am very wary when buying ICCS, especially toned ones..you see AT examples certified by them and it seems a toned cleaned coin can get into a straight grade holder by them on occasion.

ICCS will never identify a coin as AT or grade such a coin as 'details'.
You do have to be careful when buying toned ICCS coins, especially ones with vivid colouring and also when a collection of similar looking coins are being offered for sale by the same dealer.

I agree with thedollarman...this seller scoops up deals on ebay then resells at astronomical asking prices but will come wayyyyy down (if the offer is right).

As Canadian Silver can often be found with some beautiful natural toning Why on earth would anyone bother with this sort of rubbish anyway. I have some stunningly toned Silver Canadian dollars and they certainly didn't cost me an arm and a leg to buy.

Only when the coin is a US Morgan dollar does wild and vivid toning equate to an astronomical price. With Canadian coins, the added value is usually very minimal.
