Thank you NDCENT. If it is the real deal, it will truly be a blessing. I live in the boonies and am working on getting the coin to a dealer and the closest one is over an hour away. I may try to get it to him tomorrow, if things work out. I will let everyone know once it is in his hands. Thank all of you for your help.

Wanted to give an update. I took the coin to a PCGS authorized dealer and he confirmed it as a DD. It is now on its way to PCGS for grading, I will let you know the results when I get it back. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Good call on using PCGS to authenticate/certify ... I hate to ask ... do you trust the dealer? Bad vibes have been known to happen when an unknown customer hands a valuable coin to an unknown dealer. Hopeful that works out for you ... and you soon receive some good news from PCGS. Keep us posted on those results. David

Good luck joe! Also did he say when his next shipment to PCGS is? - and hopefully he doesn't go showing your coin off to others in the meantime

Thanks for all of your comments. Yes, I am comfortable with the dealer. In fact, he works from his house and my wife and I went there today. He filled out the required paperwork and packaged it along with the coin and gave it all back to me to send in, which I did this afternoon via Registered Mail. I have the tracking number and can watch the progress to PCGS. The coin will be sent back to him, as he filled the paperwork out but I will have a tracking number once PCGS puts it back in the mail. Over all, I was very satisfied with our transaction and again, I do feel comfortable. In the event something goes awry, I KNOW WHERE HE LIVES! Thanks again, and now we wait.

A quick update...the coin was shown delivered to PCGS this morning. I hope to have the grading information back in 3-4 weeks and as soon as I hear something I will post and let everyone know. (On a side note: To JBC and BRS, yes, it was me that PM'd you about the coin, in case you were wondering.) Thanks again to all of you for your help.

What an absolutely incredible find. I'd say you might still get at least $20,000 for the coin in that condition. That's a whole lotta money there. I'm excited to see what the grade will be. At least an EF-45 maybe(?)

There are a couple of guys on you tube that I subscribe to that I passed this info onto first as they are the ones I learned about this particular error through their videos. I'm now letting you know and I want you to know how much I appreciate all of you for the help and encouragement you have given since I first posted this topic. I was unexpectedly surprised today when my coin came back from PCGS. Not only did it arrive much sooner than expected, but it also came in as an AU53, which is higher than expected. If you would like to check it out on the PCGS website, the certification number is 83062487. Thanks again to all of you who commented and gave encouragement. You folks are mighty helpful and just plain awesome!
