2001 Penny Error? It Possible Their Is A D Mintmark On Lincoln's Eyebrow?

If it is raised metal then most likely a die chip or damage that moved surface metal to create that lump on the eyebrow. A close-up of that area and better lighting would help I'm sure. Buddy Rest in Peace United States 7075 Posts	Posted 12/29/2016 09:54 am Perhaps the coin took a hit near the eye and there is a bit of displaced metal on the eyebrow. There's no way a D mint mark would end up there -- so it has to be something else. Report this Post to the Staff

moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 12/29/2016 10:11 am If you gently push on that bump with a wooden toothpick and it moves at all it is probably an air bubble trapped between the copper plating and the zinc. If it does not move or depress then it is probably a die chip. Report this Post to the Staff
