X-mas gift to myself. What do you think it graded at:

1932-S-Washington-CCF-Vs-NGC

The scratches are on the holder.
The toning on the reverse is not showing as good as in hand.

Edited to remove my initial estimate That this would be a details coin. The IGWT was making me think that until I saw that the motto was steak on these early dates.

I'm sure you are referring to the scratches most prominent on the lower right section of the obverse as those that are on the plastic.

I'd give this a righteous VF-30.

Nice circulated coin - I Imagine a details grade would be from the scratches if they are on the coin and not the plastic?

Although it is a newer NGC slab so those scratches may very well be on the coin

I agree with a righteous VF-30.

I worried about the wear on In God We Trust, but I noticed this in the ANA Grading Standards: "The obverse motto is always weak on coins of 1932 and early issues of 1934" (p. 209).

Here's the result:

1932-S-Washington-CCF-Vs-NGC

Maybe a little generous on grade?

Their grade does not seem consistent with the Extremely Fine example on their Photograde site:

1932-S-Washington-CCF-Vs-NGC

Although it's tough to know for sure when comparing different quality photos.

Nothing against you btw, I am just in the early stages of learning how to take a decent picture of a coin!
