Well, I will attempt to unperplex you.

I am webmaster, chief cook, bottlewasher, and Susan's whipping boy.

Everthing you see on this site (as far as web pages) has been done in the last 4-6 months by me and me alone.

Give me some time and the Philippines stuff will be here!

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

For me the best US Philippines coin is the one Peso 1906S, few were minted and a lot were melted to make new smaller one peso the following year 1907, so it became very scarce, if not rare. Beware of altered dates on original 1903S coin.
Of cource there is also the 1936 commonwealth commemorative which only 10,000 each were minted and most were dump in Manila Bay before the Japanese forces could take hold of it. Most specimens are salvaged with corrosion.

Susanlyn9 is the most kindest and considerate American lady I have ever met at coin community. Surely, she will listen and consider positively your pleas, manilagalleontrade.

I love the 1944 and 1945 coins from the San Fransisco mint. They almost seem like they are in high relief?

Hi Folks! hope I'm not too late on a 2005 topic , my fav quote is
Quote:
...better late than never...

The interest on some future "facts" section concerning Philippine coins is very interesting for me, ...however it would be very taxing for any person to do this site.

So may I suggest, instead of a specific "US-Phil coin facts" section, we look into something like a "World's Most Interesting Collectible Coins" Section, the contents would be added on by members in a way similar to Wikipidia, & who have earned a level of posts to be considered serious contributors to the section & of course a member who's nationality possibly reflects that of his chosen coin or data.

What do you think? your opinions would be invaluable for a section that could probably increase interest among coin collector's worldwide. As of now, my impression on the navigation section is 97% USA focused. That's just my 1cent opinion, and besides I AM interested in US coins.

A collector member from another country being able to say some "facts" about his own country's coin, now that, would be specially interesting, and may push him to more research, to possibly become a Numismatist! (did I get the word right?)

Thanks! Regards!

I picked up many uspi coins during a few visits to Alongapo in the late 70s early eighties while in the Navy. I wish I had bought more. Beautiful culture, beautiful people, fantastic food! The coins are nice too.
