It is likely a token rather than a coin. Coins are issued by governments, tokens are issued by others and only have purchasing power at the establishment.

Saloon Tokens do have some collector value, there is a bunch of collectors specializing in them. I would first try to Google the item and see if you can find more info on it.

Also, please post pictures here, there might be someone who knows more about the piece.
