I have an idea based upon my collecting Canadian large cents but I'll see what you guys think. I just love the reverse design. I would think a half crown would call for silver, though. Maybe it is due to the state of the treasury at the end of the war. Are they always copper? Report this Post to the Staff

It wouldn't quite make a VF grade as the hairlines between the ear and the parting are virtually worn flat. But I'd say it's better than Fine on account of the good detail on the shield on the reverse and the well-defined eye and ear. I'm sorry but I couldn't even guess at a numeric grade. This was the first year of cupro-nickel coinage and the coin contains no silver. These halfcrowns had a relatively short life as they were withdrawn on December 31, 1969 as part of the preparations for decimal currency. This is a nice typical circulated specimen.
