Does this coin look right? I'm wondering what might have caused this washed out look. Do you think cleaning?

Seller has a number of washed out photos, which is what you are seeing. It's impossible to tell from these photos what the coin actually looks like.

The grading companies opinion means absolutely nothing in this case since their opinions are wrong more times than not.

good point moxking. for a brick and mortar coin shop, seems there photos should be better. may be a weird washed out looking coin or might just be a weird photo.

this one looks more promising:

But...the Sesq are so flat struck that it's really hard to grade them from photos only. This one doesn't look dipped, but the luster is so subdued, which is typical, that it's really not possible to tell MS or not.

Are you looking for MS?

The coin itself looks washed out, even in the shot showing the label. I'd hold out for a better coin.

That second coin does look much better. For the Sesquicentennial, I prefer to look at coins in hand. These coins have a very shallow relief which is why so many of them have poor strikes. They also tend to have ugly toning. If you're looking to add one to your collection, take your time. Cherrypicking can really pay off for this coin.

Especially considering the holder, I'd drop this one like a hotcake.

great feedback. I'm definitely going to wait and make sure I consider a few specimens in person before making a purchase. thanks.
