Unfortunately ends soon, and should have researched sooner. Looks like a nice altered 1785. I find this interesting for 2 reasons. Looks nice for condition VF25 or so, and the alteration looks like a nice job. Is this a fairly valuable piece, or just a counterfeit. I'd like to have it, but not sure if it's worth it, or just a pig in a poke.

No, I passed, didn't want to get stuck with an altered coin that I wasn't sure I'd be able to resell.

The photos were not good enough that I'd have gambled that amount, either.

Certainly had the potential of being a higher grade or interesting example.

I'm suspicious of this piece that's possibly a replica from the 1960's which appears to my eye to have been artificially toned, darkened. Furthermore, there's no description, and the seller sells a lot of low end items. This further fuels my doubts about the piece. Just my take ...
