I've got a 1973 D "Penny" that has puzzled me for years. I have always thought it's either the most valuable or most worthless thing in my collection. I've never been able to find anything in books or the internet about this type of coin error, so I suspect it's worthless, but I've always wondered, "Who would counterfeit a penny?".
The size of the coin matches to a normal penny. The color appears to be a normal penny color. However, the depth of the coin seems to be less than half of that of a normal penny.

Am I dealing with a counterfeit penny or is this something I should get checked out? I've never found anything on this before.
