I'm pretty sure this isn't a premium or even something to hold onto, but it caught my eye and would like to know what causes this.At the top of all the "United States of America" is a indentation that starts just south of the rim and continues into the letters. Thanks for looking, and all advice is greatly appreciated!
Any time you see the "Drag" lines or ghosting of devices toward the rim, it is Die Deterioration. You are right, there is no premium but some may be interesting enough to you to be worth keeping. Some of the easiest examples to find are 2015-P Dimes. Many of them you can find Die Deterioration Doubling ( DDD) or ghost images of the Mint mark, date, designer's initials, and IGWT. Some are pretty extreme. I found 17 extreme examples in one new roll last year. I have been saving the more extreme until I can fill one roll. Unlike your coin pictured, most have weaker strikes by the time the lines reach out that far. You may want to hang on to this one anyway. Cool find.
