Romanian 2 Lei, 1894. The Leu was following the LMU standard, prior to WW-I. The country was prospering, but two world wars and fifty years of communist mismanagement brought it to its knees. Since 2007 Romania is an EU member state.

Lotta variety today!  Here is an 1894 2 shillings from South Africa (mintage= 173 thousand):   I am also gonna sneak these in here even tho it's past the witching hour... I have two of this previously shown 1894 Guatemala peso; one has the H mintmark (made in Heaton, England). Also note the numerous die fluctuations between the two.
