1769 should be here in less than two weeks! In the meantime, here is a Heller from the German City State of Hesse-Cassel dated 1790 AD.

5 kopek Russia
weight is about 51 grams
If the mintage stated on NGCcoin ( 25.841.000 ) is correct, they used about 1.3 million kilos of copper to produce the 1789 issue.... :-)

For 1789, I have two coins of the same type. Both of these are tin 1 pitis coins from Palambang (Malay Peninsula), but one is an error date. This one has the full date of 1203:

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Fourth-Edition!-Ended-At-1461-Waiting-On-1460-C.-E.-A.-H.-864

While this one has the date of 123:

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Fourth-Edition!-Ended-At-1461-Waiting-On-1460-C.-E.-A.-H.-864

I am not sure how one could miss a digit in a date, but there is also an example of a crude 0 added to try to fix the error. I, however, do not own one of those. This is one of the few examples in my entire collection where I have two coins of the same type.

Maybe we should have a thread with coins of odd composition:

- not copper (brass, bronze), gold (electrum), silver (billon), nickel or iron (steel).

- allow only tin, lead, platinum, palladium, zinc, iridium, ceramics/stone, wood/paper/cardboard/fiber, plastic/ivory, rhenium, cobalt, titanium, niobium, bismuth, antimony, etc.
