Hello, I have these coins and assumed they were all cut for some odd reason... However; I did notice something odd with the 1979 penny; its weight is 11g. I checked and re-checked and it's 11g. Shouldn't it weigh less with it missing some of the coin? I think someone was playing around and cut them for fun, could they be real mint errors? Thanks Shawn

The weight of a 1979 cent should be 3.11g. If yours weighs 11g, that's more than three times what it should be. What do the other coins weigh?

The coins as shown in your photographs all all damaged ... and your weights are way off.
Politely suggest you obtain a better method to weigh numismatic material.
That said - nothing seen here to suggest a valued error ... if that was what you were hoping for.

The 1979 with the straight clip looks like a legit error. Pics of the reverse might help. Maybe a pic of the coin on the scale? John 1

Try to check your scale ... use some Lincolns that are not damaged. You should have a problem free pre 1982 cent.

The 1979 LMC looks like it took a turn in a vise, notice flat sides 180 degrees, the other LMC looks like it was given an acid bath, nonetheless, all damaged but spendable!

They all appear to have damage of one type or another, rather than having any mint errors.
But keep letting us see what you have questions about. It's how we all learn. There are great new finds reported here almost every day, so we can hope yours will be among those in the future.

Sorry, I dropped off for awhile, it was a typo, it's 3.11g. With it missing the sides, I was thinking it should weigh less. Here's the other side of the coin for John1:

I don't think it is missing the side so much as the coin has been reshaped using a vice or similar, The coin still weighs 3.11 grams because no material has actually been removed is my guess.

Quote: The 1979 with the straight clip looks like a legit error. Pics of the reverse might help. Maybe a pic of the coin on the scale? A coin cannot have a straight clip on opposite sides. the webbing it was cut from wouldn't allow that. They are all damaged coins.
