I come across this today in my new roll of quarters. There is a line across the entire portrait. It is a straight, but squiggly line that is sunk into the portrait.I would love to hear what caused this. Thanks for looking and as always any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

When it's indented into the coin like that it's usually damage. This one is no exception, something was scraped or pressed across it. Probably another coin.

I appreciate it. The only reason why I posted was because it's only on the portrait and nothing else. But thanks for the info.

Anytime. Yeah it looks like a coin rolled over it under pressure. Post another one, it's the best way to learn.

For best answers, you want no more than three coins per post.
