I'm still trying to collect type sets from my two countries (Dutch gulden and Norwegian kroner, both including commemoratives), but type sets only, as that will be the only feasible goal to complete.
In addition, I also have a few sets of world coins which I enjoy collecting, like Icelandic, Swedish, Danish, British and American.
And of course, there's the sets of circulation coins of each country I visit at the time of visiting. Those are my 'souvenirs' and I have over 100 of them by now.
And for fun's sake, there's also the regular oddballs of ECU and pre-Euro tokens. There's a load of them, some very nice ones and even a lot in gold and silver. Most of those go for spot, sometimes even below, so it's usually a good deal.

I could only vote in one option, so that it does not accurately reflect my approach to collecting.

I am a type collector, all coins, ancient to modern, all cultures and centuries up until mid 20th century, when silver began to be withdrawn from circulation.

I am a generalist, not a specialist.

Have about 300 coins over 1000 years old. Total collection numbers around 5,000 pieces, ranging in value from $5 to perhaps $5,000. Have 200 or so books and papers on numismatics.

Helps to explain why I am able to post in so many sub forums of the CCF.
