Short Update:

Two more holes filled! I purchased a nice 1950-D and also received a 1938-S from Crazyb0:

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

I also picked up some UNC nickels in mint cello from the 80s, 90s, and 2000-03 from chipjones for upgrades:

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

Only 3 holes left! Then proofs, upgrades and some slabs.

Yes, indeed. TheNickelGuy was very generous in sending me the last three coins I needed to fill all dedicated holes in the album!

Affected (newly completed) pages:

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

Now...to work on this proof page that I put upon myself :

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

I also picked this up (with a little help from MontCollector) to add to the "expanded" Jefferson set:

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

It goes well with the other nickel error types I have.

Great thread.

Spruett, you've done a nice job of assembling your set. Good luck with the proofs. Don't forget the satins.

Update

I've slowly been adding to the proof/SMS page and it looks quite different from the last I posted. Not all of these are GEM but, these little hunks of copper-nickel start to get a bit pricey the further back you go!

So now, I have all proofs/SMS from 1952-2003 (excluding satins). I plan on adding back to 1950 in the album and getting the handful of earlier proofs in slabs.

Sorry for the pics, these are difficult to capture in groups and through the plastic slides:

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful Proofs. You will end up getting the earlier ones. In the early 70's I paid 300 bucks for a ty 2 silver 1942 P proof. It crashed and never really rebounded. I sold it at a loss and have since replaced it, they are still relatively cheap. Get that one out of the way and the rest are a piece of cake.
It is an awesome set you have there. Congrats!

I've recently been looking at '42-P Type IIs as a Christmas present to myself. The going rates seem to be $100-$150 for examples worth getting. We shall see...

P.S. If my future Secret Santa sees this, I would also like a 1964 SMS example.

I recently purchased a 1968-1999 run of BU nickels in Mint cello and added the needed upgrades over the last couple days. Now I really need to focus on the first two pages (minus War Nickels) and start getting some BU coins in there!

Here are the (nearly) 100% BU pages. I still need 1982-83 upgrades.

New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels
New-Year,-First-Album:-Jefferson-Nickels

P.S. The walls in this room are basically orange, so that's why the right side coins have that tint to them. Only a few had noticeable yellow toning.
