I looked around the forum and it looks like here is the best place for this, but feel free to move it if necessary or change pictures if uploaded incorrectly (apologies in advance) I purchased these coins for a total of $2 including a few other coins not knowing anything about German notgeld. I knew some are valuable and thought it was a very cheap price, so why not? The three pieces are pictured below, and I am curious to know their values. My local store doesn't have a notgeld book, and I don't own one either. Any help would be appreciated! Coblenz 25 Pfennig 1918 Rastatt 20 Pfennig 1917 Triberg 5 Marke/Pfennig? ND ("arbeiter konsum verein" translates to worker's cooperative or similar according to a German speaking friend)

I looked up the coins in my Funck Notgeld Catalogue:
25 Pfennig Coblenz 1918 - Funck 80.2 - 1.600.000 mintage - 1.50 € 20 Pfennig Rastatt 1917 - This one isn't listed in that volume of my catalogue but is being offered for around 5€ here in Germany 5 Pfennig Triberg Arbeiterkonsumverein - It is a private issue and therefore also not covered in my catalog. Anyway, this one seems to be a rather scarce type because I couldnt find any other specimens of this type online. Nevertheless, this does not necessarily mean that you've hit the jackpot because there are not too many collectors of Notgeld coins. However, collectors from the region might pay a nice premium for such a coin.

Maybe no jackpot but you did well. Many people pay too much for notgeld and I may be guilty of that. I'd be pleased with those pieces for only two bucks.

Thank you very much for the information, Potsdam! How would you recommend I further research the Triberg coin? I would like to find its value if possible as I will likely sell the piece.
Albert, I figured a cheap price wouldn't hurt! I've certainly been guilty of overpaying before, so I'm glad it looks like I got a good deal this time.

Hi twinkinator,
if I was you I'd try to post this one in a German coin forum. If you'd like, I could also post the coin at numismatikforum.de and send you the link to the thread so you can follow the discussion. I know that there are quite some experts for tokens and Notgeld who also have a vast amount of literature for these coins.
If that would work for you just send me a pm with the images of the coin and I'll get to it :)
Best wishes from Berlin

Potsdam, since I haven't made enough posts yet, I can't seem to email you on your profile page. Would you mind messaging me to start the conversation, or could a moderator help here? Sent a request though "Contact Us" but no response. Thanks!

Updated my preferences. Thanks for letting me know as I apparently have never changed my settings from the initial ones. Should be good to go now!

Regarding the Triberg coin, a fellow collector from the German Numismatikforum was able to provide further information.
The catalogue reference is Menzel # 31475.16 and the coin is valued at 35 €. However, the catalog does not give any information on the year the coin has been minted in.
