Hello Forum,
First let me introduce my daughter (Juli) and I (Chris). We are both new to the coin collecting world so please pardon anything that may seem like a (stupid) question or comment. However I will say if we post a question believe me we have definitely done as much research as possible before we posted. Also sorry for the poor pictures, we have just ordered a 40x-1024x USB microscope but for now its the ole phone and coin magnifier.
After going through our Modern
Roosevelt dimes (circulated) we have found a few interesting ones I'd like to see if you guys have seen these before.
The first one is a 1989 P that has an obvious die chip directly above the "B" of Pluribus, but more interesting is another chip that forms an almost perfect leaf above the "L" of Pluribus and in-between the first olive and leaf. The flow of it as well as the spacing around it is almost perfect to the design. Our questions are (1) Is this likely a die chip or a cladding imperfection? (2) Has anyone seen this particular error before? We have searched but have found nothing similar.
The second is an 1994 P that looks to be a Crescentric
Cud. After checking Cuds-On-Coins I could not find one that matched. However we are not completely sure if this is an actual
Cud. If so this is our first and have nothing but pictures and definitions online for comparison. It does seem to fit the definition and does not look to be
PMD do to the fact it is raised above the "E" in United States and "flows" over the rim onto the face. Thank you guys for any and all help and info we appreciate it.
