Either way I think this coin is pretty cool,just because of where the die crack is. To me it looks like it has 2 I's.Thanks for looking!

I am just seeing a worn die, Die Deterioration. Also, check your 1988 LC's for the transitional variety (where the 88 has the 89 reverse) - The FG is where you see it. If you have a 89 handy throw it under your scope check out the FG so you know what to look for on your 88's. These are very hard to find - still trying to find one myself.

Normal Die Deterioration, "ES" of STATES on reverse and it appears that upper die was a bit loose to hit coin at angle between 10 and 4 o'clock. Note clarity of date but loss of "IN" and smearing of "GOD", indication of less than solid hit. Have read that press operators hear the clacking of loose dies and tighten up w/ screwdriver. Normal machining processing, differences included (die wear, varieties, oddities). You have sharp eyes, not worth anything but is an oddity, collect if it suits you, I do.
