Strange1983 Lincoln Cent.the Rim Is Broken With Copper Dots On Reverse

It looks like it broke off. There's drops of copper scattered all over it. Cold it have been minted that way? Report this Post to the Staff
Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 01/12/2017 11:18 pm Zinc rot. In 1983 there were still quite a few issues with the copper plating process for the cents. All it takes is a little hole in the copper to allow air in, and the zinc will start to ozidize and break through the copper plating. Spend it before it rots away entirely!
