Not sure of the date or why the two middle numbers are missing. Any information? What type of error is this?

I can't get your photo's to enlarge, but from these it looks like Struck Through Grease error - yours is a really good example of it. The missing digits in the date as well as some of the devices (lettering) look like they were effected as well. When whole devices are missing like that it does carry more of a premium with it.
Congrats on a good find.

Wow. I have several like this with the same looking date of an 8 for the last digit. I bet they were from the same lot. How do you grade error coins?

Nice find
Looks like it's Struck Through Grease
Has to be a 1888,1898 or 1908

A larger picture to look at.

That's quite a Greaser! One strong possibility is 1888 S-10, noted for one thing by the high position of the numeral "1" relative to the point of the bust, virtually touching.

So now what should I do with it? What is the value/grade? Is it worth sending for professional grading?

Greaser, probably not worth grading. I'd sell it as is, or keep it.
