I can't get your photo's to enlarge, but from these it looks like Struck Through Grease error - yours is a really good example of it. The missing digits in the date as well as some of the devices (lettering) look like they were effected as well. When whole devices are missing like that it does carry more of a premium with it. Congrats on a good find.
That's quite a Greaser! One strong possibility is 1888 S-10, noted for one thing by the high position of the numeral "1" relative to the point of the bust, virtually touching.
