When you are focusing on a set with some difficulty in finding the right coin and one presents it's self take the opportunity.

If-The-Opportunity-Presents-It's-Self-Take-It.

I have a quest for a Franklin proof set in cameo and am down to three coins. One of them was available on ebay for a good buy now price with a make offer attached. I foolishly offered $40 less than the buy it now and it was taken by another for the buy it now price. Lesson learned.

YES the best time to buy something is when it is in front of you.. and by putting in an offer, the next person looking saw that there was an offer pending, so they wanted it more..

Maybe the asking price was quite reasonable and you got "Cheeky" by offering $40 less and paid the price by loosing this

Alternatively, karma is telling you that a better looking example at a lower price will come along soon that you would have otherwise missed out on had you purchased the first one.

I had the last Jefferson nickel I need for my set in my watch list for 3 days... and it was BIN for $99.

Pulled it up the forth day to make the purchase and someone had beat me to it.

That was like a year ago and I still haven't bought one. The next one I saw was $399.

Last week the last coin that I need for my SLQ set was found at FUN by a dealer that I follow. They had not had time to image the coin as it was on its way back from FUN. I could have bought the coin sight unseen, but decided to wait for the image. Someone else bought the coin sight unseen.

Geez, Deb, now you've got me guessing. Which one was it?

If a seller has a BIN price with a ''or make an offer "" I will always make an offer even if I thought the BIN was reasonable . Hey why spend more than I have to.

That's what I thought but it sold for the asking price, $200 less that another example I had been watching. Been looking for this coin for over three years.

Ouch.

I have let a coin or two get buy me in the past. It is why I seem to overpay now more often than I should.
