I'm novice at best when looking at coins but I do a lot of fact finding. I was just recently given (20) rolls of 25 nickels from Denver and Philadelphia. I saw in my initial scout the end nickels were discolored and bison or 2 had "spear marks" but nothing consistent. So I decided to open the rolls to see if there was anything interesting. So far I m through 11 rolls and found interesting "spear" marks but I dont know if they classify as such. Also I just found a obverse that has a "teardrop" maybe. I dont have a SLR camera to properly upload the images to get best quality so this community can help if they are interested. Any advice is good advice so if you have suggestions please reply. Also, I will be acquiring about 10,000 wheat pennies from 1910's to 1940's and I'm sure 50's will be there too. From what I've been told that a lot of the 30's-40's-50's will have some great conditions. So if any members are looking for specifics I will try to help. Thanks in advance.

@bkk, you don't need a fancy camera set-up to take pretty decent pics for posting here on CCF. I used my smartphone camera for several months before buying a cheap USB digital microscope. There is a whole section here on improving your picturing taking--lots of helpful folk in there.

Thanks Spence. I didn't know of the USB microscope. I knew of the topic of help in this forum but did not research it previously. I have a iPhone 7 and when I get too close the focus is horrible. I experimented with a magnifier on my eye to take some photos but the technique isn't smooth. So I hope the USB microscope will help me in trying to properly display coins when I do have questions. gain, thank you for your reply.
