I'm not sure if there is ano error or if it's just wear from age, the date looks more odd than the other lettering (except the word liberty) please let me know if you see an error, I was thinking possibly s/s

I think it's just a very weak strike with perhaps some grease effects.

Like several S-mints during the 1920's, this year is commonly found with weak strikes from worn dies.

The biggest problem with the coin is that is has been cleaned to death. You can see where three were fingerprint on the coin (above the date area)that probably looked pretty bad. So someone cleaned it and ruined all collector value for this coin. With the fingerprint on the coin, it would have been worth more than it is now worth.
